As we celebrate the end of what has been a challenging year for most, calls to the Animal Poisons Helpline are on the rise. The festive season brings a change of routine and as poisons become more accessible to our pets, it’s no surprise that the Christmas period is one of the busiest times of the year for the Helpline.
The Animal Poisons Helpline is a registered animal charity that receives no government funding for its life-saving service. The Helpline relies on the generosity of the pet loving community to continue helping pets and their owners during poisoning emergencies, however the service is drastically underfunded. If you are able to donate to the Animal Poisons Helpline this Christmas, we are appealing for your assistance so that we can keep the service operational and meet the demands of the increased call volume over the holiday period.
Please help save a pet’s life by supporting this crucial service so that the next pet owner who calls our service can receive, what could be, life-saving advice for their poisoned pet.
Established in 2019, the Animal Poisons Helpline provides free poisons advice, including first aid measures, to the owners of almost 10,000 pets each year. The Helpline is one of only a handful of animal poison information services available worldwide. What makes us even more unique is that calls from pet owners to our emergency 1300 TOX PET (AU) or 0800 TOX PET (NZ) helpline are FREE. Other services around the world charge pet owners more than AUD$80 per call.
You can save a pet’s life by keeping this critical service free to Australian and New Zealand pet owners.
The next pet we help could be yours.

Not only will your contribution keep the free Animal Poisons Helpline open, it also allows us to continue educational activities for pet owners that raise awareness for animal poisonings and their prevention. We also monitor poisoning trends and issue alerts to pet owners and veterinarians when a new poison threat emerges.
Your contribution is vital for this essential work that reduces harm and deaths associated with animal poisonings.
