The festive season brings a change of routine and as poisons become more accessible to our pets, it’s no surprise that the Christmas period is one of the busiest times of the year for the Helpline.
The Animal Poisons Helpline is a registered animal charity that receives no government funding for its life-saving service. The Helpline relies on the generosity of the pet loving community to continue helping pets and their owners during poisoning emergencies, however the service is drastically underfunded. If you are able to donate to the Animal Poisons Helpline this Christmas, we are appealing for your assistance so that we can keep the service operational and meet the demands of the increased call volume over the holiday period.

The Helpline is one of only a handful of animal poison information services available worldwide. What makes us even more unique is that calls from pet owners to our emergency 1300 TOX PET (AU) or 0800 TOX PET (NZ) helpline are FREE. Other services around the world charge pet owners more than AUD$80 per call.

Reduce harm and deaths associated with animal poisonings by providing a FREE animal poisons helpline for all pet owners in Australia and New Zealand
Promote poisoning prevention in animals
Increase public awareness surrounding animal poisoning
Identify poisoning trends and feed this information back to relevant regulatory and professional bodies
Support research activities that prevent and improve outcomes for poisoned animals
